Abstract Abraham Wolfe Davidson emigrated from Russia to the United States when he was a teenager. He studied art in both countries and became a sculptor, painter and art teacher. Davidson taught for 18 years at Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia. His sculpture can be found in numerous private and public collections, primarily in South Carolina and Georgia. Alexander Pierce Anderson Collection

Scope and Contents The photocopied articles and clippings reflect and follow Anderson's career until his death in 1943. There are two articles written in 1978 that relate his exploits and retell the circumstances surrounding the introduction and courtship of Anderson with his wife, Lydia. The bulk of the correspondence is dated from around the years 1900-1901, when Anderson returned to Clemson after a year at the University of Minnesota. Harold Cheatham's papers span his active career in higher education and public service. They include numerous published writings, some unpublished writings, presentations and speeches, business correspondence, photographs, news clippings and certificates. Manny Lawton Papers

Abstract

Manny Lawton, Clemson alumnus (class of 1940), author, and lecturer. Served as battalion military advisor with the Philippine Army until Allied forces fell to the Japanese during WWII. Survived the atrocities of Bataan, only to subsequently spend 3 ½ years as a prisoner of war. Lawton's ability and willingness to share his experiences give great insight into the struggles of imprisoned soldiers during wartime.

William Wright Bryan Papers

World War II Information Collection

Abstract

The War Information Center was established at Clemson College in April 1942. It was one of roughly 140 colleges and universities across the United States designated by the Library Service Division of the U.S. Office of Education to receive a wide range of publications and information in order to keep communities informed about the war effort in an age before mass media. The collection contains materials that document the events of World War II and its immediate aftermath.
